A fitness certificate, a hospital discharge summary, a prescription, a vaccination record: a medical document written in one language often has to be read by an authority, a school or an insurer that uses another. A certified translation renders its content with exact medical vocabulary, interpreting nothing, and the translator remains bound to secrecy about what they read.

Procedures that require a translated medical document

Some consulates ask for a health certificate or a chest X-ray report for a long-stay visa or permanent residence. Universities and schools require the translated vaccination record at enrolment, as do nurseries for a child arriving from abroad.

Insurers and health funds require translated hospital reports and bills to reimburse care received outside France. A translated sick note, disability or unfitness certificate supports a pension claim, leave, repatriation or an adjustment for an exam.

Precision of medical vocabulary

The translator renders the identity of the doctor and the facility, their registration number, the date of the examination, the patient's identity, then the text of the certificate or report: diagnosis, results, treatment, length of sick leave, conclusions. Medical terms receive their recognised equivalent; drug names are kept and completed with the active substance when it appears on the original.

For a vaccination record, each vaccine is translated with its date, batch number and the practitioner's stamp, in a table following the order of the original. Illegible handwritten passages are flagged in square brackets rather than guessed.

Confidentiality and choice of pages

Your health documents are read only by the certified translator in charge of the order, who is bound by professional secrecy, and are used only to produce the translation. Send only what the authority asks for: for a visa the certificate is enough, without the full medical file.

For a health record book, photograph only the identity page and the vaccine pages, lying flat. Faint handwriting reads better on a scan than on a photo taken at an angle.

Price and delay for a medical document

A medical certificate generally takes one page, so €30. A hospital report often runs to two to four pages (€60 to €120), and the vaccination pages of a health record book to one to three pages.

Delivery by e-mail takes 24 to 48 hours, or less with the Fast (24 h, +€15) or Express (12 h, +€30) option when a school start or an appointment is near. The certified document can also be posted for €8.

Before ordering

Some bodies require an examination by an approved doctor on their own list; the translation of a certificate from your family doctor then does not replace that visit. Check this requirement in the notice of the consulate or institution before having anything translated.

I have been using this translator's services via WhatsApp for about a year or two now, and I have never been disappointed. The process is simple: I send the document, I pay by card, and the translation follows quickly. The work is always serious, professional, and reliable. I've even recommended this contact to several family members, and everyone is satisfied. Frankly, I recommend without hesitation!

Questions about translating your medical certificate

Who reads my medical documents?

Only the certified translator in charge of your order sees them, and they are bound by professional secrecy. The files are used solely to produce the translation, are passed to no third party, and the translation is sent only to you. Send only the pages needed for the procedure: the rest of the medical file has no reason to circulate.

Do you translate vaccination records?

Yes, it is a frequent request to enrol a child at school or a student at university. The identity and vaccination pages are translated: vaccine name, date, batch number, practitioner's signature and stamp. Growth chart or consultation pages are generally unnecessary for these procedures.

How are drug names translated?

Brand names vary from country to country, so they are kept as they are and completed with the active substance when it appears on the document. Doses, dosage and treatment length are reproduced exactly. The translator adds no drug equivalence, which is a matter for a health professional.

Can the translator interpret a diagnosis?

No. A certified translation faithfully renders what the doctor wrote, using the equivalent medical terms, with no comment or opinion. An illegible handwritten word is flagged in square brackets rather than guessed. For any question about the medical meaning of the document, go to the doctor who wrote it.
